Sunset Cinema in Miller Park presents Josie and the Pussycats on October 2

Chattanooga City Special Events announces that Saturday, October 2 will be the final date for the Sunset Cinema at Miller Park, an outdoor film series in downtown Chattanooga. The City of Chattanooga is teaming up with Chattanooga Girls Rock to bring Josie and the Pusscats to the big screen.

Before the film begins, watch a live performance by the CGR All Star Band. Chattanooga Girls Rock! exists to empower girls, trans and non-binary youth in the community to build confidence and celebrate their individuality through collaborative music education, social justice and performance.

Synopsis for Josie and the Pussycats: Josie (Rachael Leigh Cook), Melody (Tara Reid) and Val (Rosario Dawson) are three small town musicians determined to get their rock band out of their garage and straight to the top, all while staying true to their look, style and sound. They get a recording contract that brings them fame and fortune, but quickly realize that they are the pawns of two people who want to control American youth. They have to erase their names, even if it means losing fame and fortune.

Sunset Cinema is a free community event that makes a great family outing, romantic night out, or night out with friends, officials said. Participants should bring blankets, outdoor chairs, and creative seating to create a comfortable spot for their group on the lawn to enjoy the movie. They can also bring picnics or take advantage of vendors’ concessions. Before the film begins, attendees can enjoy garden games provided by the City of Chattanooga and a pre-film activity from a nonprofit partner.

It is the last film of the 2021 season. Sunset Cinema will resume in the spring of 2022.
