Chicago based indie pop rock group Salon won the ILMEA All-State Composition Award for their debut title song Bee EP in 2020. Now they’re back with a bolder, more realized signature sound on their debut album. Don’t shoot the messenger!, now available on major platforms. Super lively, fast, overflowing with melody and relaxed spirit, this release should appeal to adventurers of indie pop, rock and alternative.
Written almost entirely in the COVID-19 era, Don’t shoot the messenger! is a statement about how relationships (platonic and romantic) can come together and fall apart just as quickly. More importantly, the album offers an answer. Change begins with the individual. Basically, the album itself is something like a cry for help, a distress signal, a message; Livingroom is the proverbial messenger.

Livingroom’s mission statement has been the same since its four members met as freshmen in high school: to create original music with an emphasis on quality songwriting. Founded in 2018 in the suburbs of Chicago, the group quickly grew from a backing group for their school’s variety show to a serious group with a distinct musical voice. Their synthesis of musical genres lends itself to a unique and catchy sound that the group called âpop grapeâ.
